Deputy Managing Director
James joined Gleeson in 2010 having previously spent several years securing land opportunities for a national plc housebuilder.
James’ extensive experience allows him to gain a full understanding of each landowner’s specific requirement. In his role of Deputy Managing Director James works closely with a diverse range of landowners, including schools, trusts and private companies and works closely with each client throughout the project to achieve the right outcome.
Ross has extensive experience in the acquisition of greenfield and brownfield sites ranging from 10 to 950 units.
As Land Director for Gleeson Strategic Land, Ross is focused on the identification, acquisition and subsequent sale of residential development land, with an aim to maximise value through the team’s planning and technical expertise.
Rob has over 25 years planning experience gained within both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Gleeson Strategic Land, he was Divisional Head of Planning at a major national housebuilder where he oversaw consent for over 5,000 new homes across a wide variety of sites including brownfield and greenfield land, providing him with extensive commercial experience of the development process.
Rob is practiced in engaging with local planning authorities and stakeholders about new development proposals and is particularly skilled at delivering new housing consents which maximise development potential and best value for landowners.
Paul began his career in the construction sector in the late 90s working for both architectural and civil engineering consultants before progressing into the technical departments of major house builders.
During his career Paul has delivered complex residential, commercial and mixed use schemes, in addition to achieving a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying in 2012 from Reading.
Working for major housebuilders has provided a key insight into strategic land, ensuring that both monetary and delivery value is provided to the end user. Paul believes that relationships with other housebuilding professionals and industry personnel are crucial to unlocking complex issues to deliver projects to the full potential. This includes all parties involved with a project to ensure smooth delivery not only during the acquisition but also in the marketing and onward sale.
Keiron has a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) and worked in manufacturing for 5 years as an applications engineer and commercial account manager, becoming a Chartered Engineer in 2003. He then joined the professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2007. Keiron joined MJ Gleeson in 2016 as the Group Financial Controller and Finance Director for the Strategic Land division and brings a strong professional accountancy background to the business.
Senior Land Manager
Neil has been successfully delivering land value opportunities for private land promotion and development companies for some fifteen years. He has experience in managing land projects from first meeting through to delivery and particularly enjoys engaging with land owners and local level organisations during the course of that process.
Neil holds a BA (Hons) degree in Architecture, graduating from University of Portsmouth in 1995.
Land & Planning Manager
Rachel has a BA (Hons) Degree in Geography, and an MPhil in Environmental Planning and Development accredited by both the RTPI and RICS. She is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute with over 13 years experience, including both consultancy and local authority roles.
Rachel joined Gleeson in 2013 as a Strategic Planner and has since then branched out to cover land as well as planning with her role expanding to Land and Planning Manager. During her time at Gleeson Rachel has project managed a number of sites, taking them through to the consent and sale stage. These include residential schemes both large and small, as well as a major employment site in Swindon. Larger schemes include approximately 760 dwellings at Matthews Green, Wokingham, which was a joint application with another developer at the North Wokingham Strategic Development Location; and a major allocation at Burgess Hill, Mid Sussex for approximately 3,500 units plus employment land, which is a current project.
Rachel is chair of the HBF South West Planning Group, and attends the HBF National Planning Committee meetings as part of that role, having an active input into representations made by the HBF to the Government on key issues affecting the industry.
John has wide ranging private sector experience having previously led a planning team within a Surrey based consultancy working on both strategic and immediate residential projects across London and the south east.
As Planning Manager John is responsible for initial site appraisals along with the promotion and project management of a portfolio of sites through the planning process.
Nick joined Gleeson in July 2018 and has over 14 years of experience in planning, working in both the public and private sectors during that time. This included working for one of the UK’s largest housebuilders, where in his role as Planning Manager, he secured consents on a wide range of development opportunities on both brownfield and greenfield sites across the south-east of England.
Nick is well versed in dealing with and understanding the key stakeholders involved in the planning process and is experienced in preparing, submitting and managing planning applications and carrying out initial site assessments.
Robert started his career in professional consultancy where he was involved in the identification, promotion and delivery of residential development sites before using his land and planning knowledge to identify a broader spectrum of sites including energy and infrastructure developers.
In his role as Land Manager Robert’s focus is to identify and nurture new opportunities, identifying sites primarily for residential development across the south of England.
Peter has been working as a strategic planner at Gleeson since March 2016 having previously worked at both a local planning authority and a planning consultancy. He is involved in site promotion through the plan led process and advocating for the allocation of land for residential development. He is also experienced in preparing and submitting planning applications, written appeals and site assessments.
In his role as Technical Assistant Dan works with the Strategic Land team on technical matters.
Having previously worked for one of the UK’s top 5 largest housebuilders, Dan has gained experience in every stage of a development from Land & Planning to Technical Design and Construction & Completions.
Dan’s experience helps him understand and identify the complexities a development might face throughout its lifetime from the early planning stages through to a completed development. This is crucial in providing solutions to overcome these potential issues.
In addition to his on-the-job experience, Dan has earned a HND in Construction and the Built Environment which has helped him further his knowledge and expertise when considering the Technical aspects of a development.
