Planning Consent Secured in Riseley

by Gleeson Strategic Land January 11th, 2018

Gleeson has successfully secured planning consent for an 83-unit residential scheme and separate SANG in Riseley, Wokingham in late 2018 on behalf of the Wellington Estate.

Consent was secured in very short order, only approximately 18 months after being signed up. The planning for this site was largely done by Gleeson’s in-house planning team. Having promoted the site in Hart’s Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment, the site was included in an early draft of Hart’s Local Plan, and despite that plan having not progressed significantly by the time the application was determined, the site was granted consent locally.

Planning Permission Secured on site in Yapton, West Sussex

by Gleeson Strategic Land October 31st, 2017

We are delighted to announce that we have successfully secured planning permission from the Secretary of State for 108 homes in Yapton, West Sussex following a call-in inquiry.

Gleeson originally secured resolution to grant from Arun District Council on 15th June 2016, with Rachel Scott, Gleeson’s Land and Planning Manager coordinating the planning for this site.  Prior to planning permission being issued the Secretary of State called in the application for his determination and requested an inquiry to cover potential conflict with the made Neighbourhood Plan.

The inquiry took place in April 2017 and ran for 3 days.  Planning consultants and Counsel assisted Gleeson with the running of the inquiry which involved Gleeson’s technical consultants and the Council giving evidence in support of the application. Two Parish Councils, plus some members of the public, made statements against the development.  The Secretary of State agreed with the Planning Inspector that the application should be granted due to the housing land supply position being 1.9 years maximum.

Although the call-in process has inevitably delayed the delivery of much-needed housing in the area, we are pleased that common sense has prevailed with this decision.
